I had patrolled every step of my land, looking for things that needed to be dealt with. One of those things had been a wolf that now had a large hole in its neck from my antlers. I snorted quietly to myself as I stopped by a stream to wash off the blood. Now I was making myself presentable for a doe? Something had to be wrong with my mind. It was around the time we had set, and I was in the center of my land to be able to go to any edge quicker. Excitement bubbled up in me as I counted by the seconds until Artemis came. Yes, something was definitely wrong with my head. I should not be this way. Maybe my plan to invite her to my land was a mistake. No, I needed brave and proud flowers. Artemis struck me as that type. I would have to do it, ah but what if she said no? I would lose a valuable ally.
I stopped the train of thought then and tried to cast out my senses in case some animal stole up on me. I would not allow myself to die. Death was for those that were too weak to live. I, for one, craved life with every cell in my body.

Artemis, like Ranoch, harbored some doubts about their meeting. Ranoch had killed deer before, hadn't he? What if she was about to walk smack dab into a trap?
She dismissed the thought. No, when she had met Ranoch he was polite as could be. And now she was going to be meeting him in his territory. And she had to admit it was a nice territory. A patchwork of foliage colored his valley, a good amount of it grazeable. Artemis had already nibbled a patch of wild wheat and found it very tasty.
As she continued deeper into the territory, she caught the scent of the stag she was looking for. She could smell the faintest trace of blood as well, but it was far off, and didn't smell like deer blood. She figured it best not to wonder about that right now. She changed course, following Ranoch's trail. She soon caught sight of him by a stream. "Good morning." said Artemis, dipping her head.

My nose scented her before my ears caught the quiet plod of her hoof. My head rose from the patch of tasty grass I had started to nibble on and gave a small smile. She had accepted my invitation. Good.
I replied to her in a light tone Good morning, Artemis. It is a pleasure to see you again. I said dipping my head to her in greeting. My earlier worries dissipated in my mind and left only room for a controlled joy. I didn't want to have my mask break again. I had felt vulnerable. What would you like to do on this fine day? I asked. I was her's for the day unless she no loner wanted me.

(same here ;- "A pleasure to see you as well." replied the hind. He seemed to be in a good mood, if somewhat reserved. Fair enough, she thought. Stags always seemed to want to appear dignified and stately. She thought for a moment as he asked her what she wished to do. "Perhaps we could take a stroll though your territory? It's a wonderful day, and a walk would do us both good."
